The BIN feature doesn't mean, 'professional eBay seller' to me, but rather, 'this is what I want for this item, but I'll take less if no one snatches it up'.

I use BIN frequently - even to the point where I will display the auctions by 'newest' just to grab it first if someone posts a BIN auction with a low BIN $

Shoddy packaging comes from all sorts of people - that's what looking at feedbacks is for

Oh, and I too offer to pay extra to double box items I'm especially afraid of breaking during transit.
