Reply to "Advice Needed: When a seller won't respond"

I still do not understand why a seller would not want to respond to the ebay "Ask the seller a question." That is what it is there for. If the seller has a problem with it, I feel I have a problem with them. It automatically gives the seller the e mail address of the buyer. Sooo..what is the sellers problem?
I am afraid I do not understand.
