You can go to http://www.bidbot.net/ and search for whatever you want to sell on eBay and it will tell you the time and day to list it to get the highest price based on previous auctions for the same items.

I am currently developing it, so please make sure to let me know of any problems/suggestions you may have.

Clever, but not very accurate with most collectors items!

I am being very negative I know, but I feel your programme will only work effectively with really large numbers of similar products.

It depends entirely on sample size.
I would imagine that most collector's interests are like mine, highly specific and only a limited quantity are sold each month. If for example the sample size is 7 (Query Adox cameras) then it picks Saturday as the best day to sell this camera, simply because that example sold for the highest amount.

I don't think that represents real life - Tuesday had the highest number of bidders which I think is the real test of the efficacy of the forecast.

In other words price is only one indicator - I think that number of bidders is also a vital statistic.

Don't get me wrong, its a brave effort, but I simply think there are too many variables in the collectors market to be able to forecast accurately.

My advice to my Jeweller client who wants to start selling sell hand made gold & silver jewellery has been simply ignore times & days, make certain that your layout attracts the customers to your jewellery, so I am not certain your programme will work for more standardised products either.

Am I being too hard on this venture? It is an original concept after all.

Oh yes, as Mrs M & Puppy Raiser are abed and Lexie has travelled to unknown parts of the world (usa pronounced oosa, sounds like somewhere in Japan!) BJ is poorly and Region2 has told me he is very busy, so on behalf of everybody may I formally welcome you to the forum. (We Brits are a bit more formal, the others would have just said say Hi! Welcome!)

Thanks for your input Camera Collector. I agree with you that the results depend on the sample size, and if you search something that has 10 or less total auctions, it is very difficult to tell the best time to list. If you think that you should look at the amount of bids, a graph of the bid amounts is provided.

But I think that if you are selling jewelery, there is a time of day that more people are on that buy jewelery then another time of day. And, most of the bids placed on an item happen within 10 minutes of the time it ends. If you list jewelery at 3 in the morning, not many people will be awake to bid on it.
