I have 3 watchers and 1 unique bid on an item that I'm selling but the item has only had two visits (on the counter) - how can that be?

Counter inaccuracy?

Suppose they were browsing with "cookies not accepted" - would that affect the counter?

I have also noticed before that when I visit my own sales, the counter does not always increment - so I assume it is a trifle inaccurate.

this sort of thing has long been complained of at ebay, e.g. just recently:

added to the problem of gauging overall hits are the counters. many people had andale counters, which for a long time were notoriously inaccurate. now the default counter is ebay's own. we already know something is amiss with ebay's new counters because they show multiple hits immediately after sellers have listed.

This may seem like an insignificant question, but why are my counters all on 1, with the exception of my two newest listings? I do check my visitor counters, and they all had more than 1 yesterday. Is this an eBay quirk? Thanks

The eBay counters are new, they are glitchy right now & will be until they work the bugs out.

Not sure on that. I though maybe that somone may have 'watched it' without actually viewing it.

Perhaps an experiment would help.

Delete all cookies/temporary files.

Refresh page ten times.

Observe increment

Refresh page ten times, clearing cookies/temporary files each time

Observe increment.

Ban all cookies. Refresh page ten times.

What does that yield?

I'd do this myself for you, but I don't have anything for sale at the moment, though the pressure is building up!
My son observed the other day "Dad, now you have learnt how to buy things on eBay, what about learning how to sell them!"

I won't be doing that as I don't think Cookies will have anything to do with it (although the presence of a cookie might stop it incrementing twice for the same visitor)...
