I am from Australia. I noticed that when I click on the Ebay listings in my snipes it goes straight to the parent site (US), and everything is listed in US dollars and such. Even the timezones are not my own.

Is there a way we can localise AS? For example, enter in "preferences" your local Ebay site, so all timezones and prices are local?

If not, maybe something to think about. Wouldn't be too hard to implement.

Strange. I swore I posted to this message earlier. I know I did. ARG. Darn message board.

Anyways I said I liked the idea, it has been mentioned before and is on a wish list. Although saying it wouldnt be too hard is probably an understatement. Things that seem easy always seem to take the longest Smile

Yeah, well. Its like how you have thumbnails and such on your snipes.

Its just a matter of adding a function where you can choose your Ebay site. For example, mine would be http://www.ebay.com.au Then making it so all times, and links are based on the local site.

Oh my goodness, I live in the US and the timezones are not my own either! No big deal! Do you have any idea how many countries there are in the world? Looks like a task to me. Wink

I've got a theory: The farther one is removed from a programming task, the easier the task is. I don't have a name for it like "Murphy's Law". But, I've never seen my theory fail, nor have I ever seen the opposite fail (the closer the harder). Big Grin

It is sort of like buying a washer with all the bells and whistles, the more that is there , the more there is to go wrong!

Sometimes we need to reprogram ourselves..to think for ourselves and not expect everything done for us automatically! Smile

In most cases you are right. But where Software is concerned, the more user friendly, the more customers.

Look how well Micro$oft did.

I'm only making suggestions, things that I would do to make the Software more robust.

If you go up to mypop above, in preferences, you can set the time to different time zones. Mine is set for eastern now. Just kidding with you. I really don't know much about programing and what is involved. If you happen to catch Bartelby in here, her husband is a programer. Smile

Hi Mrs.M!

That time adjustment you suggest -- that's just for this forum, right? There isn't a similar feature to change the displayed time in ebay, is there?

That's right.

P.S. Thanks for the acknowledgement in your e-book. In "Buying and Selling on ebay Reloaded" can I get the dedication?

Rick!

I had just about completed writing the dedication -- it was to ME, of course! Roll Eyes Well, OK -- I'll get the Wite-Out. As if I already don't have enough Wite-Out blobs on my screen! Razz

BTW, sometime you need to give me a crash course in how to post links and referrals to the archives or different locations in the forum. That's a neat tool!

Oh yeah -- I'll be the one that looks sorta like Danny DeVito Eek -- with less hair & MONEY! Roll Eyes

One thing is to get the URL for the correct post. Once you have that, then you click on the icon down with the other UBBCode icons. You'll first be prompted to enter in the URL. Click on "OK", then you'll be prompted for the text. That's where I key in ">>> Click here <<<", but everyone enters in different text.

I only use the URL icon for long addresses. It gets kind of messy if you post a long address without the URL icon because it widens the display for every other post on that page and makes it difficult to read because you have to use the horizontal slide.

The tough thing is to find the specific post within the topic. Posting the beginning of a topic can add a lot of unnecessary reading. You probably already saw this, but if you click on someone's post count, you'll get a list of the last 100 or so posts by that person. Then you can click on the "Subject" column to go to that post. Once you find the one you want, then select the URL.

It's rare that someone comes here and asks a question that hasn't been answered before. And it's rare that the question hasn't been answered by Sara. Since Sara is the Goddess, I always try to find her answer first. So, that's where the forum's "search" (at the top) comes in handy. In "Author name" I enter "Sniper Sara B." (without quotes). The toughest thing is decide what to put into "Search Words", because Sara may answer a question without referring to the actual problem (or noun). But, after awhile you start to remember some word that Sara used, and you search on that word. An example is finding the post about getting a refund for a fraudulent seller. I always remember that her post contained the word "negative", so that's how I find it. Sometimes I can't remember any of Sara's key words, so I'll just pull out the thesaurus and bang away.

Another reason I like to search on Sara's posts is that towards the end of May the forum's servers were changed by infopop. That wiped out the ability to search on a person's posts other then Sara. She lost her post count and registration date, but for some reason she kept the link to her old posts. The opposite happen to everyone else.

Also, I don't know if you've seen this, but on the pages for each of the forums you can click on the entries in the "Last Post" column and go straight to the last post. This can be very helpful to get to the recent posts on topics with multiple pages.

The nice thing about the archives is that even if you don't know the answer, by providing a link to one of Sara's posts, you still have helped out the person, and saved Sara the time to answer it for the 100th time. Wink

(I sure hope Lexie doesn't see this long post.)

Hi Beezo,
Correct me if I am wrong, but if you log onto ebay.com.AU all times will be in Oz and all prices will have Oz equivalents. You may still have a problem through "SEARCH" if you go to 'Search the world'. I can't remember that bit. But try logging on at ebay.com.au and see.
