When I set up a snipe I'd like AS to tell me that I'm sniping a Dutch Auction (I've missed that fact a couple of times) as my strategy needs to be revised.

YOU MUST REMEMBER THIS:
It’s not the last bid that wins, but the ... (start over)
It’s not the last bid that wins, but the ... the ... the ...

DAMN, I forgot. How does that go?

Somewhat dated, but I THINK still accurate, these posts from the past:

BTW, I think this suggestion about AS flagging Dutch auctions is a good idea, too! Smile

How to snipe a dutch auction.

For a single item, a minimum bid will move you, at least temporarily, into a winning position. Adding a few cents isn't a terrible idea in case other late bids are placed.

If you are looking for more than one item, place an early minimum bid for a quantity of one. Nibble your bid higher until the number of items you want is at or below you on the list of bidders. Several minutes before auction end, you'll want check your position again, then snipe that bid amount for the quantity you want.

Surrender, I should think. BTW, that guy on the left, his face is somewhat familiar. I think that I have seen him in other pictures of that era; however, not with both arms raised.Big Grin
