What I'd REALLY like is for AuctionSniper to have a facility which would prevent me from bidding against a specific user ID.

Why?

Imagine a scenario where a friend has expressed an interest in a particular item, but I don't know whether or not they will actually bid. If they don't I might like to buy the item myself, as a future gift for them. Or I might just not want to enter into a bidding war with someone I know. But I can't make my interest in their bidding intentions too obvious.....

Now, as a mere happy user of AuctionSniper I have no idea about how it works before it places a bid, etc.

But before any considerations about whether it could be made to work.... would anyone else find such a facility of use?

Frankly, I doubt it. Just bid your max and let AS do its thing. If your friend wins, he has the item; if you win, you have a lovely gift ready.

That's true, but the whole point is that I don't want to end up bidding against them ( potentially just the two of us bidding ) and forcing up the price(s)

One, or both, should get you something “official” from AS.

So, if your mate bids ten seconds from the end and your snipe is 8 secs from the end, how will As be able to react. Impractical! You two need to communicate more!
