Rick's right - it's what I've been saying all along - there's nothing wrong with being helpful but endless welcomes and GIF-oneupmanship is likely to annoy people (for example me!) and drive away newbies who have a serious question but don't really want to be told what the weather is like in Atlanta...

We've seen a couple of newbies say the same - Mr Natural and Oxford (do a search) - so isn't it time people took the hint.
