I'm new to AS and very happy with the service it provides me. However, I'm really disappointed with the very poor quality of the forum discussions. I expected more content instead of the constant, endless debates.
The chaff far exceeds anything readable. Aren't there any posting rules? Whatever happened to etiquette? List mom, maybe you can further explain the different forums. I assume there is at least one forum you moderate and kill off topic threads.
Yeah, you could argue that I shouldn’t read it if I don’t like it. Well, that time will come. Right now I want to learn even more about sniping auctions, how to use AS effectively, good ideas for feature requests, etc. That said, I would rather not know how to use AS than read these poor mannered debates. Life is too short to spread so much venom.
I see no harm in a little off-topic banter, kidding, and jokes. I fully agree that the venomous posts are a bit much, and I do try to approach those with reason to defuse what I can, on the theory that it takes two to make a fight. I'm sorry to admit that I have been known to lose my temper, though.
No, there are no set rules -- not any written down, anyhow, so far as I know. A very few people have been booted out of AS by Sara B. or other such powers, but the offenders' language went far beyond intemperate. In any event, there is little that you, or Rick, or Chatter, or I or anyone else can do about that sort of post.

But it should be noted that my wife, who does NOT use eBay or Auction Sniper, DOES read minds. This is a phenomenom I witness firsthand every day.
I know what you mean, Chatter. Wives are like that. I swear, 300 years ago my ex would have been burned at the stake for reading minds. It's a gift that ain't all bad.

... you will come across threads full of insight and information to make your experience with AS more successful and pleasurable. Or, as Rick has tossed out there, if you are looking to glean all you have to do is ask. There are many experienced snipers that will gladly help you.
Nobody (well almost) appreciates the poison that is occasionally released but since this is an anonymous forum it is bound to happen as it pretty much does in these types of cyber-formats.
