Have just been informed by Autionsniper that i have just won a cup/saucer on ebay, no way do i need this item and no way was there a mistake in entering numbers as i without fail always check what i have bid on.

Wrong category, terhel. This belongs in Auction Sniper Support. "No way" did you enter a wrong number? Look, basically AS is a computer. It only knows what you tell it. It is not programmed to select a random number and substitute it for the one entered by the sniper. What you enter is what you get.

There is also the possibility that someone got hold of your password and placed a bid to irritate you.

I agree with Ed. And your account was most likely hacked by someone on ebay. It's doesn't happen a lot, but it's not unique. Periodically, change your ebay password - it's good advice that I learned on this forum.
