As the only foreign (ie. non USA/Canada) user of AS I cannot wait for a similar product to be released worldwide.
Dear AS - below is a map that shows you where a few of your customers live that don't live in USA
quote:Loss, damage, or non-arrival of any parcel of its contents which (a) is addressed, wrapped or packed insufficiently, incorrectly or contrary to the carrier's packaging requirements; or (b) bears a descriptive label or packaging which tends to describe nature of contents.
So that excludes anything with a customs label which, by its very nature, must describe the contents.
Nice one Mrs M - in the meantime it would be nice if SARA (she's an AS person, Trevor!) wiped the turkey leftovers from around her mouth and responded to my point about this product not being any good for us Aliens!
We dont provide the insurance we only resale it. It might be best if you were to turn it off in your account settings. I think you could still add it for individual snipes by clicking the Modify button after adding a snipe for any item you were purchasing from the US which met the guidelines and you wanted insurance.
I'm pretty sure that offering insurance for sell in the US requires some sort of government filings and there are a lot of rules to be followed along those lines. Our partner has been doing it for over 15 years and so we just go by the rules that they've been successful using. I'm sorry if they seem US centric, it's not something we tried to do intentionally.
Ok, please pardon my ignorance, but is the AS insurance _not_ applicable to items that are purchased from US/Canadian sellers but shipped overseas?
I suppose another way to ask this would be: does the little customs label attached to packages for export invalidate the AS insurance per the terms and conditions quoted above?

No reply? I'd still be interested to hear the word on this. Thanks.

No offense but I have read the stuff on the Insurance pages and the answer to this question is not there, at least not specifically referencing the question of the customs tags and item "3" in the insurance policy statement (see up in this thread, Nov 29 and Dec 02). I did however receive the following from AS Support which does answer the question directly:
"The answer is that the customs tag is acceptable where the insurance is concerned. The intent on the restriction is on advertising on the box, where it‘s obvious what‘s inside at a glance, or where a shipping label was merely slapped on the manufacturer‘s box, making it apparent what the contents are.
I‘m guessing in the world of shipping thieves, they‘ll grab what‘s of obvious value, but don‘t have time to read customs tags.
The small print (at the time, it's changed) said you couldn't have anything that described the contents and that's exactly what a Customs Label does. Assuming and knowing are two different things!
The insurance facts I directed him to, seem very clear to me, R2. So, I think I am not assuming, I assume! But then you do have to be very careful because you may assume you know and your assumption may be incorrect........(To take for granted)
Trouble and the Grace to bear it, come in the same package.
