Auction Sniper just won for me on my first try!

I've been watching the item for a week since it was first posted. It's a pinball machine that I've wanted for some time. My neighbors had this particular model pinball when I was a young kid so there's a nostalgia factor involved; I REALLY wanted this machine.

I heard about AuctionSniper.com from a member of a pinball mailing list I subscribe to. I thought I'd give it a shot. My first bid amount I set in AS was beat the day before the auction was to end so I upped my bid amount in AS and waited. A couple of hours before the auction end my bid amount was again beat. I hadn't made a manual bid at this point and I had cancelled my AS item for the pinball but then decided to up my bid one more time.

I had played around with the times and then settled on a 12 Second value after reading some of the posts here.

I then sat there and waited, refreshing my browser on the auction item for the last 5 minutes, watching the other snipers drive the price up, hoping that it wouldn't go too high and that AS would get my bid in on time.

All turned out well. I resisted the temptation to issue a manual snipe and still won.

Thanks Auction Sniper! Smile

Congrats, and Welcome.

You now understand what the hardest part of using AS is. In case you missed it, it's entering your MAX bid amount. Don't bid what you hope to win it for, enter the REAL max you are willing to pay. If that other higher bid had been a sniper, you would not have raised your bid, and you would have lost.

Yes, I got lucky that no other sniper beat me to the punch but in my defense each time I entered a maximum bid in AS I told myself that was the max for me and it was until I watched the machine slip away from me. After the third value change I made myself stick with that no matter what happened.

AS was still great about getting my bid in so close to the closing bell and next time I 'gotta' have something on EBay I'll be sure to use AS again.

Yes, the key is to decide on your REAL, TRUE, I REALLY WON'T CHANGE IT ANYMORE max. Indecisiveness can indeed be fatal in auctions.

I also recommend that you use AS for every auction. That's what I do. The fee is a mere pittance, and the added probability of winning is more than worth it, especially when you will be away from the computer. Why try to save an AS fee and risk losing an auction, even when it is not a "gotta" have item? (Is anything, really?

Welcome and hope to see you back here! Big Grin

Congrats! Which machine is it? I have a Williams 'Big Deal' (I like drop targets). Got mine from a local company years ago - they had a warehouse full of them Wink

... that I will manually bid because I would like to have the item, but do not care about it that much: if I win, fine; if not, so what.
