Hi!

I LOVE AuctionSniper! Now I at least I have a chance of winning the things I truly want on eBay! (So far, I've done REALLY well on postcards of the redwoods, which no one else seems to want--I have about a million of them.) What happens when everyone finds out about AuctionSniper, though? There will be a million bids in the last 5 seconds of all eBay auctions?!

I am hoping to start selling on eBay within the next 10 days or so--I don't know if this is an appropriate question (I guess it will be removed if it's not)--but I'd really appreciate any advice you veterans have on how to succeed at sales so I can make enough money to placate my husband. If I don't make back at least the majority of what I've spent on eBay, I may not have any need for AuctionSniper!

PS My husband is really reasonable--I did become totally obssessed with eBay "winning," and spent WAY too many $$$ on auctions!

PPS Many thanks to Michael at the AuctionSniper Help Desk for making my whole message possible.

Hiya JBB,

All that will happen is that there will be no bids wars and everybody will have to decide what their MAXIUM snipe is and bid that. As Snipers we only get one shot and need to know what we are willing to spend on the item we are wanting.

I started the same way as you, I used to buy and buy and then I decided to start selling to pay for my spending. Now I sell tonnes more than I buy.

Key things to selling are:

*Catergory Selection - make sure you pick the most appropiate catergory to display your items

*Pictures - ensure your Pics are well displayed, lighted and a flattering angle.

*Starting Price - I personally, dont like to rely on a bid war to make my money, so I start my items at a Start Price that ensures that I make enough money on one bid. Then if the doesnt sell, when I relist it I can alter the starting price if needed.

*Descriptions - dont use too many Airy-Fairy words, make your descriptions accurate, depending on the item....putting some personal experiences into your listing will *endear* you to your potential bidders.

Good Luck with Selling Big Grin

jbb - Welcome!

I've only sold a few things on eBay, but I'd suggest you take a look at the auctions you bid on and ask yourself why that auction listing is/was appealing to you. For example, I like text to be centered. I think it is a lot easier to read. When you're scanning several auctions, easily read descriptions are a blessing. I also don't bid on auctions that aren't specific on what they're going to charge for shipping. And like Lexie, I agree - pictures are mandatory. Include shots from every possible angle if it will help you describe your item.

Good luck!

jbb,
to our forum!

Something that I as a seller, think is important is after the listing! Answer all emails ASAP! When the auction ends, send a statement right away. When the buyer pays, email him with the shipping info., leave him feedback, pack and ship right away, being sure to pack securely! I also enclose a thank you note in the package.
Smile
