I was wondering what is a good lead time for an auction. Keep in mind i have an average to slow dial up. Thanks in advance!

Since you are not placing the snipe when it is placed, your connection makes no difference! You don't even need to be online! Personally, I use 8 seconds during normal times and on Sunday PM ,PST, 5 to 8:30 and on the hour, half, or quarter, I add 10 to 15 seconds. Main thing, bid the max you want to pay!

And,
to our forum!!

Seven seconds should work just fine. The thing to keep in mind is that eBay will slow down or speed up depending on how busy they are, among other things. If you use too short of a time, you run the risk of the bid not getting in before the auction closes.

I am new to the service and the forum. I have two snipes set for two items, they both end within a few minutes of each other. This is Monday at 6:30 PM. I followed the suggestion in the FAQ and set mine to 5 seconds. Too short?
Any feedback welcome. Thanks

Since one of the auctions ends on the half hour, that would be cutting it close. I'd suggest 20 seconds for the one that ends right on the half hour and 8 to 10 seconds for the other one.

Taba,

Since your auction ends on the half hour, IF it were mine, I would set my snipe somewhere around 18-20 seconds. I normally use 8 seconds and add 10 to 15 seconds to the snipe during busy times. This is just what I prefer.
