Hiya Nick Smile

I can answer a couple of your questions....

They shouldnt know you have been using sniping software unless you havent turned the instamail feature off. Go to "My Snipes", then "Modify Account", then scroll down to "Instamail" and turn that off. The Instamail feature emails the seller to let them know you won.

I'd say AS placed your bid that early because they were going to do some maintenence during the time your snipe was due to fire. Thats the only time they place snipes that early.

Occasionally they will place snipes a little early (say 10 seconds) if their software tests the lag time for ebay to accept bids and finds ebay is running a little slow.

Sorry you didnt win Frown but AS is a really GREAT service and if you stick at it, it will save you heaps Big Grin

My personal choice is 8 seconds during normal times. On Sunday in primetime, when traffic at Ebay is heavy, between 5 and 8:30 PST PM and on the hour, half and quarter, I add an additional 10 to 15 seconds. Be sure to bid your max, then if you loose, you know the other guy over paid!...Also, when was the early snipe placed? Would you post the auction#, please? Smile

Heh, yes bid your max. Smile But I have to admit I'm guilty of raising my bid if I get a notice that the current bid is only a few dollars over my snipe. Eek
