I'm very excited to try AS tonight, as I'm going to be cheering my son's basketball game when the auction closes. Meantime, I can't help wondering 1. what percentage of ebayers snipe? How many snipers are likely to be sniping while I'm sniping? AND......
2. are there certain types of shoppers more likely to be snipers, ie collectibles/antiques, etc? Or certain types of auctions more likely to have a lot of sniping?????

Someone must know!! Please tell me....

I can't help it-- it's my nature...

and now a final (we hope) question... is it wise to stay away from auctions where there is already a bidding war, even though the reserve is not met?

No..as long as you set your snipe for no more than you want to pay, it doesn't matter. If you loose, you know they paid too much! Wink...Although there are thousands of sniper, there are thousands more auctions and Ebay bidders than sniper, so not to worry!

I doubt anyone has the answer to that question. Depending on the item, you could do a completed items search and see how much last minute/second activity the previous one got. You may be bidding against the bidders that lost those auctions.

Smart ones Wink From what I have gathered collectables/antiques do seem to attract more snipers manual and using software. The things that I buy dont seem to attract alot of snipers.

I wouldnt stay away from an auction with alot of bidding already going on, especially if the reserve hasnt been met....just treat it the same way you would any other snipe. Set your MAX MAX and see what happens. If you win "WOO HOO", you got the item for what you wanted to pay, if you Lose - not loss. Someone was willing to pay more than you were. Silly buggers.

Good Luck Cool

Maybe I should start buying what you buy!

And by the way, my Busgsy is a hilariously, impossibly cool white Persian cat. You could blow a tuba at his face and he might blink.

Thanks for the answers and wish me luck.

LOL - I buy stuff that there is ALOT of on ebay. Actually I tend to buy alot of different things, but there always seems to be an abundance of them available.

If I dont win this one, another will be along shortly.

Your Bugsy sounds gorgeous. We had a totally deaf cat once, people used to asked what his name was and my reply was ..."he doesnt need a name, he cant hear me call him by it". His command for *come* was clicking your fingers, the only problem was when he wasnt looking at you, you had to throw something at him to get his attention to ASK him to come. (I say ASK, coz you cant make cats do anything Roll Eyes )
