Im kind of new here, used the service with success the past month. I happened to be watching an auction ending today, I had a 3 second bid on the snipe, it bid 8 seconds ahead and two people outbid me. Not the end of the world, I sent a note to support for clarification, I guess you should just be careful in case there is a must have item this service may not be best. I lost a few other items since joining, I never checked but I wonder if they bid early those times. I have won numerous items and I have been very happy. I might continue but not for items of importance. Just wanted to share my experience for other newbies.

I was just sharing my experience so perhaps someone will benefit from it. I'm sure there are many posts regarding the issue.

How might they benefit Skatey? All you've said is that your snipe went in early (presumably on a Sunday item), AS adjusted the lead time and other snipers bid higher than you. It happens...

Love is in the air
In the whisper of the trees
Love is in the air
In the thunder of the sea

And I don't know if I'm just dreaming
Don't know if I feel sane
But it's something that I must believe in
And it's there when you call out my name

Love is in the air

Maybe this is misleading people. maybe AS could change it to say:
AS - bid near the end and save a bidding war!

Simpler – change “second” to “seconds”.

It might be that it’s a corporate logo and doing ANY change would require the lawyers, although there isn’t a “TM” or “©”. Maybe it’s some kind of scared cow thing. Maybe AS continues to use it to keep their users amused.

If you really want to work on something that is considered deceptive and/or misleading advertising, then do something about the phrase “United Kingdom” – it’s neither.

We also have Great Britain!

Regarding “USA” - when IRA stands for Illinois Republican Army, then that won’t be such a weak argument.

The “Great” is a bit much, but understandable seeing that it’s the only Britain, making it at the same time Great and Little. Perhaps something more along the lines of Hawaii to denote a handful of islands. After all, Japan was hip enough to drop “Empire” after WWII, even though the Emperor was still around and the Prime Minister wasn’t.

I will agree that the “A” could be dropped as a suffix to U.S., as it sounds like the U.S. is in control of all of North, Central, and South America. What I’m I saying – it is! I think the U.S. is the only country in America that’s subdivided into “states”. But to continue your “states” argument, each of those “lands” in the U.K. aren’t kingdoms, not even doms (a bunch of cons aren't called condoms), so how come uniting a bunch of lands turns them into a kingdom, which further argues why not United Kingdoms. AND, you currently don’t have a KING! Perhaps United Kingdead or United King-Once-Upon-A-Time or United Kinghuh?

Here’s a suggestion for those European islands, the United Been-There-Done-It.

Not that it matters but I checked every losing snipe I had placed since joining and every one was placed 7 to 9 seconds before the end of the auction. My default is 3 seconds. I understand the adjustment for busy times but some of these auctions were weekdays and one was very early am, if I wanted to place a 7 or 9 second bid I would have. Again not an issue and I'm sorry you cant see how someone may benefit from knowing this.

Not sure what the benefit is, especially as everyone knows about it already. I think AS should re-look at their advertising and set users' expectations accordingly!
