Hi all newbie here, my first question might sound a little strange but, just say I'm watching a auction and Auction Sniper is all set to go, say there are no bids and I make the minimum bid just to be sure I get a bid in just in case Auction Snipers has a problem. Now if there is no problem with Auction Sniper will it bid against me or will it know I'm the one who placed the bid?
Thanks
Joe

AS will try to place your snipe. The results would be the same, which will be controlled by ebay, as it would be if you placed a manual bid in the last few seconds. If you win, even if your snipe wasn't necessary to win, AS will still charge you, or you'll use up one of your free snipes.

You can't bid against yourself, unless you aren't winning by a full increment.

I'm not trying to beat AS out of its 1%, I just started using AS, I always used Stealthbid but I'm done with them, in the past 2 months I bet they lost something like 8 auctions, saying my bid was to low, and it was higher then the winning bid, unable to place bid, I would E-Mail them asking for a explanation and they would never get back to me. I just used AS and won a fishing reel, there was 6 minutes left and no bids, so I placed the minimum bid just incase AS screwed up and didn't place the bid, somebody outbid my bid but AS came to the rescue and I won. Great job AS
Thanks
Joe

My question is the same (I think)as joeyd50 but I'd just like to clarify. There is an item that I would really like to win and as a precaution in case the system goes down was going to place a manual bid as well as a snipe. Can you do this? Someone told me E-Bay can block your account if they find bids coming in from 2 different locations. Also if I do place a manual bid should I go for the same max bid? Please help?

Yes.

Someone is wrong.

Only one will get placed. Ebay doesn’t allow multiple bids at the same amount.

Is that a question or a request?

Ok,Thanks for answers. So if I put in a manual bid should I make it a bit lower. I won't be pushing the price up will I by using 2 different methods and bidding against myself?

Correct. And should someone (chatter or region2) suggest that this defeats the purpose of sniping, or some other such “advice”, just tell them, “Bite me!” (if they don’t have their dentures in, then best to say, “Gnaw me!”)
