Ok someone help me out. A seller has 4 same items ending tonight, At the moment they all have minimum bids on them and are low priced, I expect that to change as they are highly sought after items. Anyway I would not mind winning 3 of them if I could snipe them at or below my max bid

How do I set a snipe for same sellers auctions that end within a 1 minute of each other? is this where the group bid thing comes in??
also auctions are ending at 9:30, 9:31, 9:32 ( or about ) tonight, what lead time should I use?

Yes, that's what bid groups are for Smile

This is what Sara has to say about using bid groups when the ending times are close:

quote:
If your bid group items end 15 seconds apart make sure to use 5 second lead times. That gives us 10 seconds to find out of you're the winner so we can cancel futher bids. Using longer lead times may result in us canceling the bids because we dont have enough time to determine if you are the winner before the next snipe is to be placed.

According to this, you'd have plenty of time. If you want to play it safe, put the earliest and latest auctions into a bid group and then snipe regularly on the other two. Smile

Bidgroups are in: My Snipes --> Manage Folders. There's a tutorial somewhere (in the FAQ?) that puppy keeps posting, maybe he'll pop in with the link Smile

Yes - if you put two in the bid group, and specified you wanted to win 1, then the second one would cancel if you won the first. If you put all 4 in, and said you wanted to win 3 then you would win a MAX of 3 (if you were the high bidder in each of them). Make sure when you are adding the auctions that you add them to (or move them into) the bid group folder.

My suggestion to only put two into a bid group was if you were concerned that AS wouldn't have enough time to calculate your 'win' status. According to Sara (see above) you would have plenty of time.

Oh - I don't suggest that you 'reuse' a bid group. Delete it once you are done with it and create new ones as needed. Otherwise you'll have to remember to 'up' the number of items you want to win, and it gets confusing.

Wait... If you want to win as many as possible, DON'T put them in a bid group.

Enter each as a regular snipe!! AS will bid on all of them!!

But in this case he said he wanted to win 3 of 4 auctions (see original post).

And he was referring to my post that said to bid normally on the other two, so as long as he was the high bidder he would have won 3 out of 4 - which is what he originally asked.

Don't make this harder than it is Razz

Oops.. I get it now... I think. Red Face

From his original post I got the impression he was more concerned about the auctions ending so close together.

Jet, If you want to be sure to win no more than three, BJ gave good advice.

Nah, bid groups are a piece of cake.

Click the Manage bid group button.
Give the folder a name & description if you want.
Tell it you want to win 3 items.

Then just add the 4 snipes into that bid group folder.

That's it, simple as pie. If your max is high enough you'll win 3 out of the 4 items.

Check the little boxes to the left of the item #'s you want to move.
Next to the 'Cancel' and 'Move to' buttons there is a drop down menu.
Select the folder you want to move them to.
Click on 'Move to'

If you want to see all snipes (including ones in folders) there is another drop down menu next to 'Choose Folder:' Select 'All Snipes'

You can also set your 'default' view to 'All Snipes' by:

Click My Snipes tab
Click Modify Account
About half way down under Preferences / Display Options
Make changes and click on 'Update My Account Information' all the way at the bottom.
