Okay maybe I don't get this. There were no bids. The minimum bid was 95.00 but with 'reserve not met". I typed in a max of 127.01, hopiong that would cover the reserve. But when AS bid for me it bid 95.00 and the bid says my max was 95.00, not 127.01. HUH?????????? so the reserve wasn't covered. I might've won if AS had put in my max.
Please explain. I thought even through ebay, if you're the only one bidding and you're below the reserve, it will use up your bid to your max to meet the reserve.
quote: If your maximum bid is the first to meet or exceed the reserve price, the effective bid displayed will automatically be raised to the reserve price.
The key is IF your bid meets or exceeds. It must not have! Also, AS only gives the max amount you snipe to Ebay. Ebay actually places the amount needed.
That is what I understand..as to what it shows in your My Snipes, I don't have any losses to compare it to. Maybe someone else will pop in and help you.
...auctions can be confusing! IF your max bid does NOT exceed the reserve, the lowest bid exceeding the next largest bid is displayed on the page with "Reserve not met" displayed along with it. At that point, you know the reserve is LARGER than your max bid, but other bidders won't know, for whatever thats worth!
IF your max bid had EXCEEDED the reserve, your winning bid displayed would have EQUALLED the reserve bid with "Reserve met" displayed next to it.
SOMEWHERE it said my max was 95.00, but now I'm not sure where. It definitely said that on my ebay page, or on something from ebay. But it does say the higher number on My Snipes, as you said. So if I was the only bidder, that's why it said the highest bid was 95.00. If the reserve had been 125.00, I would've won for that amount.
