Since AuctionSniper's problems several weeks ago where it went down for hours, I lost 6 auctions! What I want to know is - if I ever want to "Check" AuctionSniper (hours before an Ebay auction closes) to CONFIRM that the site is Operational and I don't have to submit a bid myself --- WHERE DO I LOOK ON THE AUCTIONSNIPER WEBSITE TO SEE IF IT'S UP & RUNNING OK -- OR IF IT'S DOWN TO A MALFUNCTION/SEVER PROBLEM, ETC.? I look forward to a response from someone at AuctionSniper!!

No need to shout Laz - we can hear you!

Obviously if you want a response from AS Support then the best thing to do is to ask them directly via the help tab - these forums are only 'frequented' by the odd user or two.

Mind you, I think you already know this - I get the impression that you like to sound off and cannot accept that every site get's the odd bad day. And why are you so concerned? It's well know that AS will save you money by avoiding bidding wars but should not be relied on for must-haves. If I was you I'd worry less about whether AS is UP or DOWN and just use it normally like the rest of us!

Lawrence,

Your idea “might” have some merit. It has been requested by other users on this forum that they would like to see an email notification if the AS sniping servers are temporarily down (I don’t know of another site that does this), although this doesn’t happen that often. But, to my knowledge, no one has mentioned AS implementing a tab/site that would monitor server malfunctions.

I question the wisdom of the “hours before”, as the problem could well be resolved in that timeframe. And, if it were “minutes” before, then I’m not sure it would be helpful.

Also, the forum tends to “light-up” when there are server problems, and the support staff will post updates on this forum, so perhaps keeping an eye on this forum will give you the security you’re looking for.

If you do end up filing a support request, please post AS’ response.

Happy Sniping.

I don't think I'm out of line by requesting a simple "AuctionSniper" Alert on the Home Page for whenever the site is malfunctioning. As to why I'd like to know hours before - Because it usually takes the programmers/IT repair techs HOURS or even a DAY to fix/remedy a system down (anyone who's worked for a major site or corportation knows this - I certainly have had this experience Many Times). How would it help? Because if I see that AuctionSniper is Down, I won't trust AuctionSniper to be up for a minimum of a day and a half - I'll do the snipping bid myself. No complaint - I'll willingly do this - but just tell me the system's down. And THAT'S not asking for a lot, no way.

Why have an Alert on the Home Page? Because Why should I have to go searching through the Community Forum Boards reading posts to see if AuctionSniper is working? Some members may enjoy that, but I don't. Make it Quick & Easy for us customers. I think it's respectful of us AuctionSniper users to let us know outright.... What's wrong with a straightforward "AuctionSniper On" Tab that says "System Working" or something to that effect?

As for R2 - I hope you lose 5 auctions in a single day the way I did - when AuctionSniper was down. And then you shouldn't even complain, right? I lost the chance at very special one-of-a-kind items, and I would have bid myself (without complaint) had I know AuctionSniper was failing. And yes, dear person, I know systems crash. But even at the corporation I work at - we ALL get an alert when the system goes down. This is considered Professional Courtesy, not to mention it respects the workers.

So - I'd like very much if someone from AuctionSniper responded.

Of the approximate 200 threads started in the “Auction Sniper Support” (this) section of the forum in the last 12 months, about 40 of them got a direct responses from someone from support. If you like those odds, then you will want to hold up on filing a support request.

Good luck.

Change the "200" to "170" - odds are improving.

Take my advice Laz, already given, if you want a response from Support then contact them direct via the help tab. These forums are just here to allow people to vent and to allow fellow users to share some of the workload by answering day-to-day newbie questions!

As to notifying us, we are customers, not staff so the scenario is very different to that in any corporation.

And it's been said many times in these forums, if it's a must-have then don't rely on AS - it is a simple system and, as such, is fallible.

No idea what R**k's told you as I'm ignoring him but hopefully along the same lines...

A decent place to check is here on the message boards. And if you can log in and view your snipes that's a pretty good sign the site is working too. Those 2 things should tell you that the site is working 99% of the time.
