I just won an item on ebay through a bid placed by AS. It went for $500.00. The previous bid was only $353.09. I believe the bidding increment was $20.00. Why did AS place my bid so high? Please explain this to me as it does not seem right to me. The eBay item number is 200228928162.
Oh. . . (duh), that would explain it! And let me take this opportunity to say "Hi!" to everyone. I am fairly new to AS, but have had some really great experiences with it. Just like the ads say, I was so sick of getting outbid on everything at the close. I lost so many items I wanted to buy. Now I am the one who outbids the others and wins! I love it!
AS always places one bid, and that’s for your maximum amount. Ebay then takes that bid and does its increment/proxy/reserve/banning/captcha (everything that happens when the placement of a bid is "attempted") thing. AS' only job is to get your snipe placed somewhat close to your specified lead time.
Yes, Rick's tip is a good one. The best thing I loved abut AS is that you stick to a budget (generally) by entering in your maximum. You don't get caught up in an emotional bidding war. If you don't win it, then you can rest easy that although you lost, you didn't go past your budget.
