Recently, I placed a snipe for an item with a 5 second lead time. I lost the auction and the status said "Outsniped". When I checked the bid history, the winning bid was placed one second after my snipe was placed and was exactly $1.00 over my max bid. When the status said "Outsniped", does this mean the winning bidder used AS with a higher max bid to win the auction?

Hi,

"Out Sniped" is one of the new status messages. Rather than the snipe having an "Unknown" status, we do several more checks after we have placed your bid to determine the exact outcome.

If you are Out Sniped, this means that your bid was successful, and you were the high bidder -- but someone else came along and sniped after you did, for a higher amount, and won. They may or may not have been another Auction Sniper user.
