Provide link to auction or file a support request:

Should that be "minutes" or "seconds"?

If it was today then AS was down for maintenance at about 9am GMT so AS places your snipe on the grounds of an early snipe is better than no snipe!

Isn't maintenance during Thursday late PM (Pacific time) and Friday early AM?

Yep - I guess you didn't spot the GMT in my post Rick or maybe you forgot that I'm a Brit and live on the Meridian. This means that your midnight is our morning...

As an American, I’m obviously unaware of anything outside this country, but even considering time zones, how does Tuesday (plus or minus any portion of 24 hours) in any time zone become Thursday PM/Friday AM in any part of the same planet?

Isn’t Tuesday December 18, 2007 7:43 AM Pacific time still considered Tuesday (“today”) in England? And, if so, then your “today” didn’t have maintenance.

I’m over intimidated by R2’s infallibility.

Oh, bless - you feel obliged to read all the postings even though they bore you. Such dedication. Can I humbly suggest you take a detour (geddit?!) elsewhere and read forums that are much more exciting as, let's face it, discussions about an eBay sniping product are bound to struggle to keep the attention of even an educated goldfish...

ps. Whatever Rick - they were defo doing maint that AM...

I guess Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardey were being alluded to - you can be the stoopid one Rick!

I had a similar problem. I chose a 9 second lead time and my bid was placed about 25 seconds before the auction end time.
Because I was away from my computer there was no other way I could have sniped the auction.

No - 25 seconds is an adjustment for slow server/network speeds,10 minutes is an all or nothing during maintenance...

It seems that we are getting a lot of one-post wonders on the same subject lately. Methinks that someone has much time on his hands.

Hi Hosie,

We'll have to look at the specific example for which you had this experience to assess what caused your snipe to be placed as early as you have described. Therefore, for further assistance with this matter, I recommend contacting our customer support department using the appropriate link on our help page:
