I put in a max bid for $150 for item #3456101755. I had a 10 second lead time, and the highest bid for the item was $125. I should've been able to place a winning bid, but the status of my snipe showed as "Did Not Win," not "Not In Time" or "Bid Too Low." What happened? Shouldn't I have been able to successfully snipe and thus win this auction? Did some freaky technical difficulty prevent my successful snipe?

It was during AS's maintenance time, but based on the post left by AS support, that shouldn't have impacted it.

Yeah, it was an item that was part of a bid group I created maybe a couple weeks ago. Does that make a difference?

If you had won the # of items that you originally specified, then yes. Once you've won the number of items, then the bid group has expired. You have to start a new one, or increase the number of wins.

I had not won the number of desired items for my bid group though, so that would not apply in this case. Thus, my bid group should still be active. Do bid groups ever become corrupt somehow before the desired number of wins has occured that would require me to created a fresh, new bid group?

Nothing that I've heard about on this forum. You might want to file a support case, and perhaps if you have more bid-group bids coming up, then creating a new bid group folder might be a good idea. If bid groups were having problems, there be all kinds of people posting about it.
