I have a question regarding bidding against myself - sort of.

The seller of the item I am interested in states in his auction listing something like "seller may cancel auction if no bids are received" or "not high enough of a bid" - something like that. (It's late and I'm tired).

So, I entered a direct bid on it through ebay so that it would have a bid on it, and hopefully not get cancelled by the "seller" because of no bids.

My question is: when I enter the maximun amount I am willing to pay on auctionsniper, will AS make my bid at the last minute like it is supposed to, up to my maximum amount even if I am the current high bidder on ebay?

I don't want to loose this item, but I don't want to pay tons of extra money for it.

In my experience, the answer to your question is "Yes." Not only will AS bid your maximum amount, if you have entered a snipe bid that is outbid in the last two minutes, and you then enter a manual bid that ultimately wins the auction, AS will notify you that you have won the auction, and you will still be obligated to pay the snipe fee on that item.

Yes AS will enter your bid even if you are already in the lead.

Generally this will NOT increase the price of the item, but there are a few exceptions where the price will increase slightly (a full bid increment or less). >Click Here< for some eBay info about raising your own bid.

Scarlett is right, if AS bids for you and you win, you will be charged a fee or a free snipe... even if you would have won without the snipe.
