Yesterday auction 300243915559 ended. I had a snipe 19..00 higher than the selling price. When the auction ended AS said that I had been blocked by Seller.
I contacted the seller and they said that they had no idea what happened and also stated that they felt cheated on the deal.
Has this happened to anyone else? I have 100% positive feed back. Luckly this was not a very important purchase for me. Where could I check to see what went wrong so it will not happen again?
Thanks Glen

I just got the blocked by seller message on an auction. I got this message once before but since then I have able to bid and win auctions. What gives??

Scarlett's post didn't really help me. My paypal account is linked to e-bay as far as I know.

Kind of ironic that I missed out on this auction because it was a relist of an item AS wasn't able to bid on due to the downtime problems earlier this month. Guess I just wasn't meant to bid on this item.

Sometime in the late spring eBay/PayPal revised some of its internal functions, with the result that customers whose eBay and PayPal acounts were previously linked (meaning most of us) lost that linkage. Consequently, buyers who bid on auctions where the sellers required a PayPal account for bidders (a growing number of sellers) had their (i.e. the buyers') bids rejected. This occurred because the eBay software did not see the seller as a "qualified" buyer linked to PayPal.

The solution, then and now, is for the buyer to re-link the eBay and PayPal accounts, even though these previously had been linked. This boo-boo was eBay's and they admitted it. But sniping with AS, one did not find this out until after the auction was over. The release is listed below.

********************************************

eBay Help Desk reports that there was a problem on their side resulting in many users' PayPal-account -to-eBay-account linkages being reset accidentally . This occurred approximately April 30, 2008. Bids placed by proxy bidding services, such as AuctionSniper on eBay listings having PayPal as the only accepted form of payment would be refused, resulting in 'BLOCKED BY SELLER' messages. This message is found in the 'Confirmation' tab of the AuctionSniper listing after the failure of the bid.

The fix is a one time re-establishment of the PayPal account linkage in the user eBay profile.

To do this fix:
1. Go to 'My eBay.'
2. In 'My eBay Views' at left, click on 'Addresses' under the 'My Account' heading. 3. Click on the 'View all shipping addresses' link.
4. Under the heading 'About addresses,' there will be a button labeled 'Add PayPal addresses.' Click on this button. This will restore the linkage between your eBay and PayPal accounts.
5. To verify resolution, re-execute steps 1-4 and under 'About addresses' you should see 'PayPal address'...'linked to your PayPal account'...
.

Thanks so much. The April/May timeframe is when I first noticed the problem. Now that I think about it the last auction that gave me trouble said something about PayPal required.

I linked the account so I guess we'll see what happens next time.

BUT, will we see if it DOES fix the problem?
