Quick Question. If i place a max bid of $50.00 on an item will Auction Sniper place the entire amount against the item just before the auction closes, or just enough to beat the current bid?

The entire amount.

If someone else bids $26 and you bid $50 then you win for $27.

sorry, that doesn't make sense. Is it the entire bid say of $50 or just enough to beat the other persons bid , $27 against their $26. (a bid increase of one dollar by Auction Snipr?)

Sure it makes sense, but you have to understand proxy bidding at eBay. AS places your max bid, and it's eBay that uses only enough of your bid to get/stay in the lead.

Nico, AS places one bid and ONLY one bid, which is why you need to decide your absolute I-won't pay-a-dollar-more maximum amount, because the bid will be placed seconds before the auction ends. You will not get another chance.

It is eBay that uses as much or as little of your bid as is needed to make you the top bidder (if no one else bids higher). In Sara's example, if you place a $50 snipe with AS and one other person has bid $26, then you will win the item for $27, because eBay only needed $27 of your $50 bid to make you the top bidder. It does not matter that you bid $50; you will only pay $27. This is an eBay function and has nothing to do with AS. The winner's top bid is NEVER revealed to the other biders, even after the auction ends. All you see is the amount that it took to keep him on top. If bidder A bid $26 and bidder B bid $42, your $50 snipe will win the auction for you at $43, one increment above the second-highest bidder.

Just be sure to bid your max and do not bid an amount that you are unwilling to pay, because if you are the top bidder, you will be stuck with it.
