Sniper In Training |
Hi, I am new to auctionsniper. I can't find the answer to this question so forgive me if it's been asked before. There is a seller offering 3 of the same items. I would like to get one. The problem is they all end within a few seconds of each other. The second one ends 12 seconds after the first. the third one ends 13 seconds after the second. Is there enough time in between the end times for auction sniper to work? My plan is to bid low on the first 2 and if I don't win, have the last auction bid high enough that I will win for sure. If this is enough time, how much lead time should I use?
Thanks for any help, Bone |

Hope you get more opinions, but I would try a 2 or 3 second lead time. That gives AS 10 seconds to verify a loss on the first before they need to bid on the second.
Not sure about auctions ending this close, but for auctions spread out a little more, it's often the last auction that fetches the highest price on rare items. Remember it's everyones last chance, not just yours. WELCOME to the forum, and let us know how it works? |

Hi Bone,
I would set your snipes at 1 second (thats what Sara recommends) in a Bid Group. Puppy is right, the last one is often the one that goes for the higher amount though. You will find other bidders after one of those 3 items will have the same idea as you. Good Luck Lexie |

Wow, 1 second? Is 1 second enough? I don't want to take the chance of my bid not making it in time. One more question. Say I didn't win the first auction. How long does it take AS to find out? Is there any way I could accidentally win all of the auctions? I mean, If AS didn't know I won the first one, is it possible that the bid could be placed for the second one? And the third? I couldn't afford to pay for all of them.... Maybe the best strategy is to pick one and snipe it with a big bid. I might pay more but there would be a better chance of me getting one of them. Which one do you all think would be the best one to bid on? 1st, 2nd, or 3rd?

>Click< I'd go for all three in a bid group.
There is no way you should win more than the number requested. AS must verify a loss before releasing more bids from a bid group. That's what the 10 seconds I mentioned above is for. Worst case, AS will not bid because it's not gotten an asnwer from eBay about the status of a previous bid. Don't know how much time it really takes, but from the link posted, seems things are running very well between AS and eBay. What day/times do the auctions end? |

They end Friday night at 10:22 central time. Since you have been doing this for apparently, a while, I will take your advice and try to snipe all 3. This being my first time trying AS, I guess I don't really have a lot of confidence in it. If it works I'll be sold though.
Thanks, Bone |

Hey Bone,
Make sure you enter them in a BID GROUP wont you? The other thing is, I would have say a 5 second lead time on the first item, then its nearly guaranteed to get there on time. Then 1 second for the other 2. AS WONT bid on the others until it confirms the first snipe was/wasnt won. Also, make your bids an odd amount (ie. $20.58 rather than $20) This is the quote from Sara (AS Support).... quote: Good Luck and Snipe your MAX as its not the last bid, but the highest that wins Lexie |

Yes, what Bartelby said.
and don't mistake number of posts on the forum for experience at AS. Most of what I know about sniping, I picked up here on the forum. |

YAY!!! We love success stories. I think the most money saving thing I learnt was the odd bid amount, its saved me heaps over time.
