I have lost 4 bids within the span 10 hours on 8/28. All should have been winning bids. All have the status of "Did Not Win". Is there a problem? One had a lead time of 15 seconds the other three had a lead time of 20 seconds. My bid was for $25 with the winning bids ranging from $20.49 to $22.99. The item nummbers are:

3835769506 3835847437 3835857882 3835865513

Looks like a bid group problem due to an unresolved item.

Start a new bid group and move only the items still left to be sniped to that group.

No, it was not a bid group problem. I finally got a win (#3836239364). Fortunately seller had lots of these items for sale and my bid was a reasonable one. I was lucky this time, but am not happy that so many got away. What if it was a once-in-a-lifetime item that didn't get triggered.

Uh, yes it was. They were in a bid group, MiniDv.

I am very very very very super duper duper duper duper super very sure it was related to a problem with bid groups and will thus stand by my advice.

Then in that case you'd listen to my advice and not put it in a bid group at all. Bid groups are complicated beasts. When we are not 100% certain a bid has won or lost we do not bid on any further items. That is what happened here. Thus I would not expect this problem on your once in a lifetime item since it would not be in a bid group.

Yes, they were in a bid group. When I said that it was not a bid group problem I meant that it was not a case of #wins being meet. To prove that it was not a bid group problem, I finally did get a win within that group. I can understand the complexity if there are multiple snipes due within a few seconds of each other - I always stay away from these situations. These were spaced out.

I ONLY use bid groups! When I want to buy something I set up a bid group, do a search in ebay and lay down all my bids in auction sniper and walk away and hope one of them wins. Are you implying that bid groups are buggy and can't be relied on?

I don't work for AS, so take the following with a grain of salt.

Yes, there is a tiny bug in bid groups. Any time you see a 'Did Not Win' status, you should move remaining snipes to a new bid group. For some reason AS can't figure out that 'Did Not Win' means you didn't win. If AS can not confirm a loss, all remaining snipes are put on hold. (so you don't win more than 1) That's why they continued to not bid on the remaining items in the group.

Hardly 'tiny' - it's like saying that someone is partially 'dead' - either they work or they don't!

I meant tiny as in hard to find, and doesn't happen often. Bid groups usually work just fine. A huge bug would cause them to never work.

When it breaks, it stays broken and won't fix itself. Maybe that's bigger than tiny. Wink

It does sound like there was a problem, since the snipe was not placed. Frown

However, please understand that you have no way of knowing whether or not you would have won, since you have no way of knowing what the winning bidder's maximum was. Your $14 bid was not that much higher than his $11 winning bid; he easily could have bid a maximum of $25, in which case you still would not have won.

I do not know if that is a consolation or not.

I was playing this one close to my vest. Seller was selling it for $17.29 using But-It-Now (see item #4321472496, 4321472506, 4321472510) so max win should be $17 (unless bidder was a fool). This one was an aution vs others that were only Buy It Now.

I'm relatively new to AS. I have just started using it and have been quite happy with the results I have obtained. I've won a few and lost a few but was most happy that I did not have to be around when the auction was ending to place my bid.

Until yesterday. I had a snipe scheduled to be placed 12 seconds before the auction ended. The reply I got was "Item Not Won".

No bids were placed on this item. Not even the snipe bid I had scheduled. Digging further into the explanation I came up with "transaction not allowed".

Now I know it was not because I was using a Bid Group. I just place my bids from the single entry window that shows when you bring up your snipe account.

Luckily it was not an expensive or hard to come by item. I have already made arrangements directly with the seller to purchase this item. The biggest deal is that AS did not place my bid. How am I supposed to feel confident using this service???

If there was something truly in place with the seller that was able to block my AS bid, I would like to know the circumstances. Can anyone explain?

This is just an opinion but it seems kind of odd that there are several instances surfacing all at once with the same symptoms. To me, this indicates that AS goofed up somehow. Any response, AS?

The auction I referred to in my previous post was 6117908285.

Now, for those that suspect I was truly blocked from bidding on this, you tell me why this party would block anyone from bidding?

I'd say a glitch is in the air.

Otherwise there seems to be an awful lot of blocking going on - NOT!

I've used AS for quite awhile and been very happy, but also was just burnt with a "did not win". I can see no reason why the bid was not placed and there is no explanation by AS. Is this a common problem? Any tips to avoid this would be welcome.

Welcome to our forum! It does seem as though we have had a run on this complaint lately! I think I would email Ebay with the auction # and ask for help. Don't mention to them that you placed a snipe!

I can't see that as a good idea.

ilovenitro,

Maybe lead time, auction #, and bid amount would help?
