Hi All,
I'm a junk collector and used to be a manual sniper, now using AS (Too Easy!). I'll be selling some stuff on eBay. So, when's a good day of week/time to set the auction close and what days/times are best to avoid? If buyers are sniping, I obviously want to select a *low* traffic period to enable all bids and snipes to make their mark. ...If word gets 'round, this information could become the Holy Grail of eBay selling. Don't let the other sellers know!!! Alexander Duggan |

Since you can't be certain (or can you?) of what time zone your buyers might be in it's probably not worth bothering, though I imagine peak periods in the US such as Sunday evening would be worth avoiding.
I use AS mainly 'cos I hate getting up at 3:45am to snipe manually. GG |

Actually, I close an auction everyday. I close them at 8 PM PST. I see no difference in the days nor do I have a problem with snipes getting in. I have seen many. So, there goes the theory!
Welcome to our forum! Trouble and the Grace to bear it, come in the same package. |

Most snipes *do* make their mark, even on high traffic days and times.
>This< is what support has recently said about high traffic at eBay. |

One thing I've ALWAYS considered as a seller are holidays!...
For example, I don't usually list things to end anywhere around the 4th of July...people are on vacation, at the lake, etc. and then you have to deal with an extra day of no mail. Same goes for even Martin Luther King Day or President's Day...If I do list then, I make sure it'll end after the holiday so that I don't have to deal with another lost day of mail service. Any Federal Holiday I steer clear of, I've even found myself *Not* bidding if I'll have to deal with a holiday during shipment. It's become an easy way for sellers to use the holiday as an excuse too for not getting my package in the mail promptly. Just something to think about! |

Sunday/Monday/Tuesday are all good days to have your auctions end on.
I can only attest to those having more bids those days. It could be that if you are selling a particular type of item used by weekend warriors or something that having it end on a Satuday could be best. Or maybe if it's something a early bird would use then perhaps having it end at 7am is better than at 7pm. In general though Sunday->Tuesday from 6:30-8pm has the most bids. But that might just be because everyone else lists then. Maybe ending at 5:30pm is best because there are lots of buyers on then but not as many items ending. If you got a hot item I'm not sure it matters you coudl have it end at 2am on Satuday morning and still get a great price. I also concur that holidays are slow. But that the day after a holiday weekend are usually real busy. Everyone getting back on eBay to get their fix after a weekend away from the computer. |
