I just bid on two items, both of them with 25 second lead times and the bid wasn't even placed in time, what gives? I always see people around here saying they use 10 second lead times and it's fine, but I can't even win with a 25 second lead time because the bid isn't placed quickly enough?

Accord, welcome to our forum! I just placed a bid with 15 seconds and it was placed just fine. It ended at 9:12 EST.

Mabye it was because the auction was on a Sunday at 9PM.

I don't know. On Sunday that is sort of a double whammy time. I can tell you that I have never lost an auction because of the bid not being placed. I would have probably set my snipe time at 23 to 25 seconds too!

See? Before they were complaining about bids being place too early, now we are back to complaints of bids being placed too late.

eBay was taking upwards of 5+ minutes to reply to some snipes this evening.

Most were fine. But it appears 5-6% weren't. The likely cause was several servers in eBays system performing very slowly. They probably have dozens. Since we place bids from multiple places that increased the odds of any bid making it. But still many failed. This is just after a quick look over our logs on several of our servers that place the snipes.
