It's been more than a week since I submitted a support ticket about joining not working...then support says a few days ago that they are still working on it. I haven't been to any other sniping sites so I don't know if this is a universal problem with ebay, but is AS ever going to fix its sign up problems? I'm missing plenty of auctions as I type, and I'd really like to miss no more.

Signup is working, lots of people are signing up every day in the past week. So this is something you need to work out in your support case.

Incogbla, why not detail the problem here and maybe someone on the forum might be able to 'spot' the problem? Give as much info. as possible and you might just get lucky...

Well, I've already been with support twice so far about this problem, and they've been no help in resolving it-as in they haven't offered me a solution besides waiting.

All I do is go to the join page, enter my valid (I can login and bid on ebay) ebay information, email address, and click on the button that automatically fills out the form. Then I get the error that says my ebay info cannot be retrieved. This happens on both the secure and nonsecure forms. I use IE6. Emptying the cookies didn't help.

I guess what Sara is saying in her own, wonderful, way is:
Have you tried entering the data manually rather than using the automatic system?

Gee, you think I haven't tried that already? In any case, it's the login info that needs to work for those fields to be filled in, and if that doesn't work what's the point of getting registered in the first place?

For the dense: Yes, I already tried filling it in manually. Yes, the same error occurred.

Update: Ok, it finally works. Whooppee. Now, wouldn't you say that that button is throwing a lot of people off? I bet it doesn't work for a lot more than just me.

No, I deleted my own post because my work computer was doing weird things and it kept posting an image as a link to the URL, which I did not want. Rick has posted the image above.

That is not the only strange thing it was doing. In a scene reminiscent of the movie Ghost (SamWheatSamWheatSamWheat), my computer was actually typing messages all by itself! It was actually a series of words (perhaps a bit of a snip that was once on the clipboard), and if I sat there and watched, the words kept slowly popping, one at a time, into my post. To convince myself that I was not dreaming this, I even cut and pasted the mysterious words into another thread here. Now that I am at home, I have deleted them. Weird!

R2: I am talking about the button that automatically fills in the rest of the user information for you provided that you have entered a valid eBay login in the fields above the button. I would venture that most people who try this and get the error would think, "gee, maybe AS is having trouble interfacing to my eBay account. Wouldn't this mean that AS would have trouble doing so when I go and try sniping auctions??" Then again, who knows. Maybe it's just me who thinks in such paranoid terms... Frown

I see - what did you do differently to make it work - you already said that you tried entering the data manually and that failed. What error message did you get?

What I meant to say was, I was not able to sign up before whether I attempted to automatically fill in the forms or filled it in manually. Now, I am still not able to use the auto-fill feature (says "cannot retrive(sic) user info") but when I enter the info in manually I was able to sign up. So the only difference between then and now was the result of manually filling in the forms.

The time you filled it in manually, (being flustered from so many attempts) you may have gotten your ID and/or password wrong... in which case you would have gotten an error 'Invalid ID Password'

...or missed one of the required fields, in which case you would get yet a different error.

Anyway, now that you've made it... Happy Sniping and welcome!
