hello. i've been lurking and reading for a while, and been using auctionsniper for a while (keep getting free snipes for recommending to friends, so have to use em up - you know how it is!)

sorry if this question has been asked lots of times before, but i have a quick question about bidgroups. i'm thinking of putting together a group with items ending from 15 secs apart... will that work okay or is there a chance i might end up with two?

the item numbers are 2790441471, 2790441536 and 2790441582. they all end about 17.30 GMT, which would be mid-morning PST.

thanks

In Help, Bidgroups it says a min. of 30 seconds between, but Sara has said 15 and even less will work! Very conflicting information. Perhaps someone will come in that has used shorter times and tell you how it worked for them!
This is what A S says:

28. Can I add two or more bids with the same auction ending time to a bid group?

Sorry, no. It is impossible for us to detect to see if you have won a snipe, and then cancel the rest, if they end at the same time. You should allow at least 30 seconds between bid group items to give us enough time to determine if you've won the first item.

BTW,

There is ZERO chance you will end up with 2 (unless you enter 2 or more in quantity to win)

AS will hold your other bids until it verifies you have lost. Worst case is you will not win the first, and not bid on the next because AS hasn't verified the loss in time.

This happened to me once, but the auctions ended 5 seconds apart and had a 5 second lead time. Your auctions end 26 and 17 seconds apart. I would think you're ok.

If your bid group items end 15 seconds apart make sure to use 5 second lead times. That gives us 10 seconds to find out of you're the winner so we can cancel futher bids. Using longer lead times may result in us canceling the bids because we dont have enough time to determine if you are the winner before the next snipe is to be placed.

I think I will make a suggestion to AS that they update their help instructions! If we go in and paste what they have there, Sara many times, like now, changes what it says altogether! It needs to be updated it seems!! Roll Eyes

Yes! And it's not only the FAQ/Help section ... the main page STILL says they bid exactly when you want! Very confusing to newbies!

...smart to cut and paste explanations from the forum into their documentation! There are lots of very clearly presented explanations (most of which aren't mine! Roll Eyes) of AS facts and features here on the forum.

What they ought to do is present a question on the forum, let forum members answer, then take the best answer, or combine the best parts of all the answers to make into their FAQ documention. In fact, they could show up under a forum newbie name to get candid question answers! Hmmm...wonder if dam-mad was really Sara??? Roll Eyes

This was the reply from support:

Saras answer works. However, 30 seconds is much safer and a more generic answer
without having to get complicated and explain that how long the auctions have to be
apart is based on the lead time of your snipe as well as how far apart the 2 end times
of the items are. See I'm gettng tounge tied now too. Smile

The people in the message boards are advanced users and can handle understanding the
more comlicated response, and can thus use it to snipe more effectively than they could
with just our generic reply.
