I won an auction tonight, snipe placed successfully by AS, but the AS email report I received says I lost because of Invalid UserId/Pass. What gives?

I guess you should contact the seller and tell him you don't want the item! Wink

Contact AS Support via the help tab and ask them what happened - let us know what they say...

Here is the answer I got from AS Support:

Thanks for contacting us regarding this matter. I just consulted with our engineering department regarding this issue and apparently this problem arose because the snipe status criteria was mixed up on one of our services that assigns end of auction status‘s to items. This problem has since been corrected, therefore, the correct snipe statuses should be returned for your future snipes.

This snipe still reflects the incorrect "Invalid UserID/Password" status on your "My Snipes" page, so you actually haven‘t been charged for it yet. I believe we‘ll be updating these statuses over the next couple weeks and, if/when that happens, you‘ll be charged for it then. On the other hand, if our developers decide not to update the incorrect statuses for some reason, the associated snipe fees will be on the house.

We apologize for the confusion this discrepancy has caused and, for taking the time to report this issue, I have credited your account with 2 free snipe credits. If there is anything further I can do to assist you, please don‘t hesitate to ask!

At least I got two free snipes out of the deal! Smile

I have encountered this same situation early this morning. I too am mystified why I received "Invalid UserId/Password" from AS but won the auction it was for. This was disconcerting and I don't understand how this happened. This thread indicated that this problem was resolved in 2007.

Any help that you can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks - Jazzman
