I got a message from AS Report---"Banned by Seller". The bidder who won is an Auction Sniper and won with an AS bid. I don't know who this seller is and to my knowledge I've never done business with them. Can someone please explain to me what this means? Thanks.
I assume it means they have you on a no bid list or at least cancelled your bid. Reason? Since we cannot see your feedback, only you can answer that. Sometimes sellers cancel a bid because you don't have enough feedback, sometimes because your feedback has too many negs. And, I wonder how you know about the winning bidder?
Trouble and the Grace to bear it, come in the same package.
I have no clue why they would of banned you, I also kinda see it as they have blocked you - but I cant answer why.
I dont see why you mentioned the winning bidder using AS (or how you know), unless you thought they may have blocked you because you were sniping. But then - how would they know?
Strange - can you give us the auction number or any more details?
I just looked too, Lexie. I don't see anything either! Unless, this is not the same person . Sometimes when you use the post name, Lexie, it brings up a totally different person. As an example, try Mrs.M.

I've bid against the winning bidder. I'm almost certain he is an AS as his bids always show up 5 seconds before the end of the auction. He does occasionally bid through Ebay, too, but he'll always come in at the last 5 seconds, also. It occured to me that the seller was banning AS but doesnt' seem so in this case.
So, if it says "no bids cancelled" does that mean mine was not even submitted, becuase I was banned? Or, could this be some kind of mistake by AS or Ebay?
The seller has had his current eBay user name for nearly five years. Could there have been an errant tranasction over five years ago, and he blocked your name while still using his former name?
How about trying to post an early lowball bid on one of his current auctions, to see if the bid is accepted? Something you don't really care if you win or lose?
There is no way to know if the winner uses AS. There are many sniping companies out there, or he could simply be a good consistent manual bidder.
You are correct. I don't know for a fact that he uses AS. There may be another program he uses. I have seen messages from some sellers stating they don't accept AS, but there was nothing noted on this auction.I have been an Ebayer for just one year--so no other transactions five years ago. I've not heard back yet from the seller as to why I was banned.
Perhaps the winning bidder used the new service available at www.hosnipe.com which guarantees to place snipes within two seconds of the end. (If you haven't read HO's thread then you won't get this!)...
