Hi all,
Please help unskilled e-bayer and virgin sniper!
I have 9 snipes due tomorrow afternoon(peak time)they are a set but sold separetely seconds apart.Typical.
My snipes say- ready- but will it work?
Do I need a group snipe thingmajig?
Also because its due up at a peak time is a lead time of 7 secs enough?

They should. Just enter your REAL max. price.

If you're trying to win them all, no.

I might go just a tad more, but also note that AS will adjust and add to your lead time if they think your bids might not make it in time.

Good Luck and WELCOME.

7 secs should be fine even though they're on Sunday pm - the bottle neck is Sunday evening in the USA - as you're in the UK all should be well as the USA is 5 to 8 ours behind us!

Here's some info on [_Bid Groups_] - only needed if you want to try to win one (or more) items from a list - the bidding will stop only when the one (or more) have been won or the list is exhausted...

Congrats! I hope I will have the same success.

I'm a newbie too and I'm not sure if 5 seconds is enough for an auction that ends at 4pm EST this Thursday. Should I increase the time? By the way, the seller has another item that ends at the same time and another item that ends 10 minutes later. Does that effect anything?

Hi Soupcan,....I use 7-8 seconds. If Sun between 5 and 8:30PM PST or they end on the hour, half or quarter I add some time, usually 10 to 15 seconds. I have never added much time, if any for auctions ending on the hour during the week and have been lucky so far. A/S, in my opinion does a good job adding time if need be.
Since there are several of the items you are interested in have you thought of a bid group? <Click here> for more info.
Good luck, and the forum.

Actually, the auction ends at 4:20pm on a Thursday. But why does it matter if it ends on the hour or half or quarter? I would think it matters if it ended at 4:00am in the morning as opposed to 4:00 pm in the afternoon.

And how does A/S add time? Does it do it for me automatically? I don't understand.

So in my case, I should use 7-8 seconds?

btw, it's only one item.

Thanks for your help.

Many businesses don't want their auctions to start when entered, they choose to schedule them to start (and therefore end) at a later time when they may not be at work any longer. Scheduled auctions start and end on exact quarter hours, so there are spikes in traffic when many auctions end all at the exact same second.

AS monitors internet traffic in real time and will send your bid in earlier if they think there is a chance your bid may not make it in time. This is done auctmatically and there is nothing you need or can do about it.

I would think 7-8 seconds (that's what I use) should work fine.
