I placed a snipe for item 3269097510 by using the "Add a snipe" box in the upper left corner of the My Snipes window. 7 second lead time. (import wizard didn't work...I guess that should have been my first clue). The auction showed up with a "Ready" status in "My Snipes"

I watched the ebay auction, and no bid was ever placed on my behalf. On top of that, when I went back to the auction sniper window and clicked "refresh" the snipe was GONE. Isn't there supposed to some STATUS that tells you the snipe was successful or not? how could it just vanish?

I keep looking at the page trying to figure out if I did something wrong, but when I went "back" the snipe was there..showing "ready"

Thanks! I found it. it says invalid userID/password.

"But Wait, there's more!" ...if my Ebay ID and password is the same as my auction sniper userID and password...how could it be invalid? hmm. I haven't changed my ebay id or password. Is there a way to test this?

I don't think there is any way to SEE your password. Go to My Snipes, then Modify Account. Re-enter your password (and confirm). Be aware of Caps and/or lower case letters?

Your account has eBays 4 digit security code turned on.

We cant snipe when that is turned on.

That turns on when someone or something tries to log into your account too often with the wrong password. Usually hackers of some sort.

If you're a seller it is most often 3rd party sites with out of date passwords for you trying to append their stuff to your auction. Such as counters or other things the 3rd parties are trying to attach to your listings that you've asked them to.

I ran a check and your password you have on file now with us is correct.

eBays 4 digit password security feature turns off around midnight each day. And stays off as long as nobody tries logging into your account again with the wrong password.

So snipes should begin working for you at midnight.

wow...never heard of that one. Is there a way for me to tell if this is on, so I can try to predict whether or not a snipe will work?

Thanks,
Lou

Yes, just go to eBay and sign in. If it works without having to supply any extra info, you're ready to go.
