I use Import Wizard to set up my snipes. The last few times I've done this, the wrong items have appeared in my watch list--a bunch of items I've never even seen before. I've logged off and back on again and then the right list is there.

A few weeks ago, I checked on 'my snipes' list and my auctions weren't there, but there were snipes set up for items that again, I had never seen before and did not wish to bid on.

It even showed that I had won one of these items, but later it was gone.

I have an auction ending today and I'm home so I can hang around and make sure my bid goes through, but what if I wasn't? How can I be sure that Auction Sniper is working?

Am I nuts or is this happening to other people too?

Any advice would be appreciated.

You’re not nuts. If you check the forum, you’ll see some threads about this. Seems the problem has been going on for a little over a month. Here’s AS’s support staff’s response (Sniper Bill):

It appears that this isn’t a universal problem, as the amount of complaints don’t indicate it as such. My own advice, and this is just speculation, is to register your snipe with AS as close to the closing time as possible (within hours instead of days). It appears that the longer the snipe is recorded with AS, that there just might be some slight increase in the possibility that something will go wrong.

Again, this is all speculation on my part. Hopefully one of the techies from AS will provide an update. Usually AS is good about reporting the status of problems to the forum, so you might want to check here from time to time.

Thank you.

But I'm still worried.

Sorry you had this problem. I can only speak for myself. I have not had any problems at all. You might also send support an email and ask if this situation has been cleared.

Trouble and the Grace to bear it, come in the same package.

You have a right to be. As always, sniping is a trade off between getting the item and getting it at the lowest cost. If the lowest cost is the priority, then sniping is the way to go. If acquisition is the priority regardless of price, then placing a large proxy bid is the way to go. But, that’s the case when using any sniping service at any time. It would be easy for me to say, “Place a snipe. Everything will be OK.” and that’s probably an accurate statement, but if something goes wrong, I’m not the one impacted. Only you can make the call.

Thanks for your advice. Actually, I had several auctions that were important to me today and all my snipes went off without a hitch. Of course, I was watching them like a hawk but I wouldn't have been able to place my bids the way I did without Auction Sniper anyway.
